O'Connell Learning Center

The O'Connell Learning Center is named for Papa Bill O'Connell.  After visiting Pearl Haven Christian Center in 2012, Bill O'Connell has had a profound impact.  He discovered so many children who were not able to attend school and committed to providing help.  Bill understood that his family had made great sacrifices to enable him to get a good education as a child and he considered that education as the key to his ability to succeed.  He immediately started the Papa Bill Education Fund to help underprivileged children have access to an education.  

Bill also had a great passion for telling people about the love and salvation offered by our savior, Jesus Christ.  This love of evangelism motivated Bill to use his success to in eternal, kingdom oriented projects.  He loved to say that although he was not able to make any future trips back to Uganda, he could always be on the finance committee.  Although he very much wanted to be at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the PHCC Worship Center, he was promoted to glory just a few months prior and so he was able to see the celebration from a much higher perspective than anyone else!

The O'Connell Learning Center was named after Papa Bill O'Connell because the building's purpose is so aligned with Bill's passions - Education and Missions.  The first two floors will be used for children's education programs and the upper two floors will be for missions training.  This will help enable Pearl Haven Christian Center continue it's mission to be a regional church which supports the community, a regional missionary hub to train and equip Africans to take the Gospel of Christ up the River Nile, and to be a model church to help plant new churches.  This new building will be very important for PHCC to train Africans of this generation, and the next, to spread the Gospel to the lost!
